New song out today. Give Faded Ends a listen. It is a song that didn't make the cut for the unreleased EP I did with Brett Bullion in the summer of 2016. It didn't make the cut because it was did not fit the vibe of the other songs we recorded for the EP. As time went by, I felt the urge to put something else out there. Brett hooked up with engineer Evan Bakke who turned out a killer mix and Huntley Miller came through again with a great master. Very special thanks to Rasun Mehringer for allowing me to use her beautiful face and photo for the cover. So here it is, I hope you like it.

November 8 2016

I remember the feeling in the air eight years ago. We ran into the streets and we felt joy. We felt joy because if how far we had come as a people. We had come from abducting Africans and enslaving them to electing a man of African descent into the highest office in the land. We had a chance to elect a Woman to the highest office in our land today. But today we made the wrong type of history. We are supposed to be better than this. This is the wrong type of revolution.

Tonight I feel no joy.

Tonight I feel fear. Uncertainty. Shame. Disgust.

I fear for women.

I fear for anyone of color.

I fear for anyone who identifies are LGBTQ.

I fear for those trying to make a life here away from their home country.

I  fear isolationism from reason.

I fear disinformation.

I fear the poison that has oozed from this soil.

I feel uncertain that this is the right path towards the goals we need to strive for as a country.

I feel uncertain in our place in the world.

I feel ashamed of what we will be seen as.

I feel ashamed of the racism, bigotry and xenophobia that has been uncovered in our country.

I feel disgusted that so much hate and negativity can be pushed aside.

I feel disgusted that we have given justification to those who preach hate and fear.

I feel disgusted that we have given the not only a voice, but a seat at the table.

I feel disgusted that we didn't do more to make sure this didn't happen.

I feel disgusted by the person we have elected as President.

I feel disgusted by what we have done.

September 16 2016

Good morning. I sit here from a balcony in Los Angeles, CA, on a beautiful morning, the type of morning that to a Minnesotan like me, lifts the spirits and inspires energy into the day. It makes you feel the need to take advantage and soak as much of it in before the earth's rotation rips it all away from you before you know it. As I have learned though, these days are of the norm here and I am not sure that I will ever get used it. To be honest since coming to Los Angeles I have felt out of sorts and have been missing Minnesota and my family and friends a great deal. These feelings I reckon are all normal and I just need to adjust to the new surroundings and try to find normality in a new situation. This is not what I actually set out here to write about, I just feel it necessary to set the scene and be honest. The reason I write is to let you know the my first full length album in 4 years (Brave Soul 2012) is now available online. The process of the realization of this album goes back way further than the first notes and the first demos of these songs that came about around 2013. Before I made a video demo of 'Closer' on an acoustic guitar in a cabin on a damp and snowy day in Kilkenny, Ireland. Back before I decided that I was going to buy a drum machine and move away from guitar-centric songwriting while I was listening to a Radiolab about anesthesia in a village called Raizeux in North Central France in 2014. It goes way back to when I was a kid and my brain was soft and my eyes were wide. I goes back to all the records my parents, sisters, grandparents, cousins and friends played and listened to. Music from Ray Charles to Dr. Dre Miles Davis to the Beatles to Minor Threat to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. The things that are so hard-wired into my person that to I don't even realize that they are influences, the just exist as me. When I was making my acoustic guitar records, I never fully embraced that there are no rules, no boundaries, no ideas to are carved so deeply in stone that they can't be ignored. When I got together to add Savannah Smith's vocals on the "Grand EP" with Brett Bullion, we were waiting for Savannah to arrive and listening to Frank Oceans's Planet Orange and Brett asked me why was I not being fully true to myself in the music I created. I didn't have an answer. The only one I could form was fear. The fear of stepping outside of your comfortable bounds and being vulnerable and in a state of less control. As one needs to do, I did my best to throw fear aside and ignore the boundaries that I had placed on myself and started writing the songs that felt the most honest and representative of my person as a whole. There is so much more to the story than that, and I am certain there will be more to the story after this, but I digress. So, today is the day all of this and all of the hard work and emotion culminate and the record is there for you all to enjoy and experience.

Thanks so much. I love you all.

Andy

April 5 2016

So it has been some time and I have kept you waiting. Things are now officially in motion. I have been making music and putting out records for nearly 16 years, ever since I was 17 years old. I am proud to say that this new single and this new record is the best thing I have ever done, and it has been a long time coming. I have gone through many changes and for those of you that have been with me since the beginning, you will understand this one fully. For those of you that are expecting some of the old me, I would like to invite you to listen to this new music and know that it comes from the the bottom of my heart and it has more of the real me in it than anything else that I have made before. On April 8, 2016, enjoy the new single, "Closer", pick it up on which ever site you prefer and let your friends know about it. Thanks again. More to come soon.
